When we started the design process, green wasn’t my favorite color, and I actively detoured around our designer’s recommendations for several green elements, in favor of more blue tones.
This guest room was the last room on our design list and as I unpacked, we found a quilt my parents gave me for my high school graduation. My mom had done all the embroidery work and it is beautiful – shades of greens, lavender, aubergine, dusty blues, and a warm rose. Seeing it in the room, with the calming natural wall and drape colors, made me actually request “greens” for this room.
As luck would have it, several days later, an artist I followed on Instagram posted photos of the botanical prints. I knew they’d look perfect in the room. We originally planned to reuse an old bedroom set here to save money but it was pretty clear they didn’t match the style of the house at all. I immediately thought of this cane bed, thinking it would look great. I asked our designer to pick readymade side tables, lamps, a dresser and a rug to finish up the room.
Bit by bit the pieces have all arrived. Today this gem of a bench in the prettiest shade of green arrived. It looks so pretty in the space. We’re still waiting for the dresser and, of course, the wall repair before this room is 100% finalized. In the meantime, it’s definitely usable for our friends and family, hint hint.
