After a fun Sunday filled with football and friends, we took the kiddos and doggie up the hill towards Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. It was about 3 miles of hiking and a pretty steep incline (the tracker said a mere 40 flights of stairs) but the kids wouldn’t think of stopping. Bill and I were so impressed by their endurance and drive to get to the top. We all enjoyed the great views and the time spent together. The kids were so proud of themselves – pointing out all the landmarks they were taller than.
I love living near such gorgeous trails and views, having all of this within steps from our home. Holden loves having an extinct volcano so close – our little scientist is fascinated by them. Plus… how cute is his face in these shots? I had snapped a few photos as a large bird of prey let out a loud screeching caw sound and suddenly swooped nearby – hence his sideways look. I think seeing that bird so close was the cherry on top of his epic adventure as he’s also obsessed with Peregrine falcons.
